CNN and FoxNews, "here's what you need to know"
In being an independent-thinking, libertarian-minded Constitutionalist, there is something I’ve noticed cnn.com and foxnews.com doing lately, and it’s disappointing.
They are giving articles titles such as CNN’s Australia is on the front line for climate change, yet it does little to fight it. Here's why
and FoxNews’ Switching baby formulas? Here’s what you need to know.
To the casual-reader, or page-skimmer one might not catch these. To others though that still believe in an objective press, a press that is to report facts not feelings, a press that is to intentionally keep all personal bias out of its reporting, these titles are leading.
These titles are meant to interest a reader and then spoon-feed said reader with “what they need to know” as prescribed from the author of the article.
No, thank you.
Media outlets, you would do well to return to journalism, news-reporting that presents the facts as best as they are known at the time of writing. Do not lead Americans to a well-prepared trough of what you think is important. Most of the citizenry is well-able to analyze facts, data and reactions to a particular problem and then form their own version of “what I need to know.”
Do not attempt to do that for them. It’s gross.
